Kate Bauer has lived in San Luis Obispo County, California for 34 years. Kate has recently become a grandmother, and is anxiously awaiting the arrival of their second grandchild this August.

Over the years, they have opened their home to numerous adopted college students of Paul's (first and foremost being our very own expedition leader), and the holiday table is regularly set for extras.
Once her own kids were in school, Kate returned to Cal Poly State University and earned an undergraduate degree in Education as well as a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Development. She has been teaching elementary school ever since. The thrill of watching students develop and enjoy life keeps her enthused and appreciative daily.
Kate also loves being outdoors. Waterskiing, snowskiing, backpacking, kayaking, and hiking have been part of the routine each year, as well as joining her husband's geological excursions to Alaska, Hawaii, and the West Coast. At the urging of loved ones, she's dabbled in rock climbing, and five years ago she climbed Oregon's Mt. Hood, thus proving that determination and a slow, steady pace can indeed get you to the top. She is thrilled to be a part of this unique women's group.
