Paula Dimitry and Veronica Jaralambides - The others are threatening to put rocks in our packs today. Paula says hi to all her co-workers back home. They were sending text messages almost as soon as we hit the trail. We are camped just below the snow line so everything above us is white. What an incredible experience!
Peggy O'Connell - Margo and I are composing a song for the trip. The first two lines are "We should be dead, but we are here instead." We will add to this as we go along. I lightened the load for everyone yesterday by eating our entire supply of beef jerky on the way to Horse Camp.
Paul Sharpe - No sleep. Talking and giggling all night long. Send Help!
July 19 8:15 am
Hi everyone. It is a beautiful sunny morning at 9,200 feet. Challenging terrain above Horse Camp. Consequently, we decided to take another day to go to Helen Lake. We stopped yesterday at 50/50 camp which is halfway to Helen. Our plan is to go to Helen, eat, and go to bed. We will head for the summit tonight aroung 1:00 a.m. All party members are doing well.

We had a great climb to H.L. today. It is freezing and windy. Freezing is good as we want the snow to ice up for our 1:00 a.m. departure for the summit. Everyone is sitting around shivering but doing well and excited to get started for the summit.
Peggy O'Connell - Hi mom. I am doing fine.
Margo Chisolm - I am incredibly happy to still be able to do this at 57.
Paula Dimitri and Kate Bauer - We would really like to wash our feet.
Veronica Jaralambides - I am really liking this. She carried all the heavy stuff today according to Christine.
Paul Sharpe - the only smart one in the group is in bed asleep.
July 20 12:45 pm
Greetings from the highest point in Northern California.
It is 12:45 p.m. and all members of the party have made it to the summit of Mt. Shasta in good shape. We didn't get away from Helen Lake until 2:45 a.m. and it has taken us ten hours to get here but we have a 100% success rate. Margo has declared this her most worthy summit. We will update later after we descend to Helen Lake.

July 20 5:50 p.m.-Helen Lake
Everyone has returned safely from the summit. We are elated and exhausted after a day that began at 1:30 a.m. We just want everyone to know that we are safely down. We plan to eat, drink lots of liquids, and go to bed. Not sure about tomorrow but probably will hike out and possibly stay and Christine's grandmother's house in Redding.
July 21
4:30 p.m.-Bunny Flat Trailhead
Everyone has returned safely to the cars. We are heading to the Black Bear Cafe in Mt. Shasta City to eat a big fat bomb. We are then going to Redding to stay at Christine's grandmothers house.
